Covid-19: 22 new cases, death toll remains at 113

PUTRAJAYA: The country reported 22 new Covid-19 cases on Sunday (May 17) bringing the total number of infections in the country to 6,894.

Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said out of the 22 new cases, five were imported while 17 were local transmissions.

He added that nine of those cases were detected among foreigners.

Dr Noor Hisham also said that 59 patients were discharged in the same 24-hour span.

He said this means that 5,571 patients have recovered from Covid-19 since the outbreak began.

"There are 13 positive Covid-19 cases being treated in intensive care units (ICU), and of that total, seven needed ventilator support," he said during his daily Covid-19 briefing on Sunday.

There are still 1,210 active cases.

Dr Noor Hisham also said there were no new deaths recorded. The death toll remains at 113.
