Singer Dafi (pic) feels great joy when he sees his father, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, hard at work.

He said he was happy with his father’s “comeback” after being away from politics for about a year, Berita Harian reported.

Ismail Sabri, a Senior Minister, has been giving daily press briefings on matters related to the movement control order.

Dafi, whose real name is Gadaffi Ismail Sabri, was a participant in Akademi Fantasia’s fifth season.

He quipped that he was not jealous that his father was now more popular than him.

Dafi also gave his two cents about the striking shirts his father wore, which had patterns said to resemble colourful kuihs.

“Papa has had this shirt collection for a while. It’s not something new he wears to gain attention.”

> Singer Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza has a new song titled Basyirah, an Arabic word meaning “good news”, reported Harian Metro.

It is composed by Hafiz Hamidun, with lyrics by Ahmad Fedtri Yahya.

“During the recording, I have to admit that I felt emotional and was trying my best to deliver the message in the song, ” she said.

Siti recorded Basyirah especially for Ramadan, but the lyrics were not just about the holy month.

“It is actually a metaphor for the global situation we are facing as we fight the Covid-19 pandemic.

“I hope Basyirah will give everyone strength during this trying time, especially to our frontliners who have sacrificed so much for the safety of our country, ” she said.
