Dewan Rakyat Speaker rejects Shafie's proposed motion of confidence for Dr M

PETALING JAYA: Semporna MP Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal's proposed motion of confidence for Langkawi MP Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad in Parliament on May 18 has been rejected by Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof.

Mohamad Ariff said the proposal was rejected, as it was not in line with Article 43 of the Federal Constitution as it questions the power to appoint the prime minister by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
