IPOH: Staying at home and complying with the movement control order (MCO) is no hurdle for a private hospital’s staff member here from helping the needy affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Eddy Irwan Mahmud, 37, otherwise known as Mohd Sabtu on his Facebook page, has his own special way of helping people.

He has been making burgers on weekends and placing 30 packs of children’s formula milk daily in front of his home in Halaman Meru Permai here for the needy.

“I found many were impacted during the MCO to the point of running out of food, and also not having any wage.

“I realised many would have contributed kitchen items already. So, I opted to cook burgers, besides providing formula milk,” he told Bernama recently.

Eddy Irwan said he offered the help by posting on his Facebook page through the ‘Food Hunterz’ group while targeting more than 70 residents around the housing area.

“Usually, I would tell the Food Hunterz group if I am making burgers. There are days I cooked 200 ‘crispy burgers’ and prepare the Dumex-Dugro formula milk for children aged one to six.

“To a certain extent, it can help relieve the anxiety of parents with young children who may have run out of formula milk supply,” he said.

In addition to using his own money, Eddy Irwan said that the formula milk and burgers were made possible via funds raised by members of the Food Hunterz group as well as donations by individuals concerned with the plight of those affected by the MCO. — Bernama
