PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia reported no Covid-19 deaths on Monday (April 20), the first time in a month.

The country also reported 36 new Covid-19 cases, the lowest daily increase since the movement control order (MCO) was implemented on March 18.

It is also the fourth day in a row where new infections have been in double digits.

This takes the country’s total number of confirmed cases since the pandemic began to 5,425.

At the Health Ministry’s daily Covid-19 media briefing, Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also announced that Malaysia has discharged 98 more patients as of 12pm Monday.

So far, 3,295 patients have recovered from Covid-19 in Malaysia since the outbreak began.

This means there are only 2,041 active cases currently being treated at the country’s health facilities, down by 62 from Sunday.

Malaysia’s Covid-19 recovery rate continues to go up - a 60.74% rate out of the total number of positive cases.

There are currently 45 patients being treated at intensive care units (ICU), with 28 of them requiring the use of ventilators.

The Covid-19 death toll remains at 89.

Malaysia is in its 34th day of the MCO, where people are instructed to stay at home and movement is heavily restricted.

The MCO is scheduled to end on April 28.
