KOTA BARU (Bernama): The Kelantan government has spent RM3.15mil on welfare assistance for those who have been affected by the Movement Control Order (MCO).
Special officer to the Kelantan Menteri Besar, Mohd Hushaimi Hussian, said each state constituency had received RM70,000 for the purchase of food baskets to be distributed to those in need.
"Apart from this welfare assistance, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and other private parties too have made their own contributions," he told Bernama here on Tuesday (April 14).
Mohd Hushaimi said this in response to claims which have made its rounds on social media, that the state government had failed to help the people whose earnings have been affected following the MCO enforcement.
The state government had on April 8 announced an allocation of RM29 million as part of efforts to help people affected by Covid-19.
He said residents should meet the leaders in the respective districts to request for assistance, instead of expressing their dissatisfaction on social media if they have not received any aid. - Bernama
