KOTA KINABALU: A special team has started conducting tests on samples of Covid-19 cases at the Public Health Laboratory on Wednesday (April 8), after receiving the needed lab equipment.
Sabah Health Department director Datuk Dr Christina Rundi said these are some of the updates on what the department and health officials are doing in the bid to fight against the pandemic.
She said the department had also seen a total of 4,473 healthcare workers and public receive the mental health and psychosocial support services (MHPSS) statewide.
The MHPSS team had also received a total of 2,730 calls, 1,441 psychological education and disseminated 3,371 infographic information via WhatsApp for video calls and counselling to date.
"Those who require these services can call our action centre at 088-230987 from 8am to 8pm daily," Dr Rundi said.
A total of 11,431 people are still under home quarantine while a total of 6,647 close contacts of suspected and positive cases are still under monitoring.
"A total of 4,784 close contacts have completed their 14-day home quarantine," she added.
Dr Rundi reminded the people to observe the movement control order, maintain social distancing when they have to go out and to practise good personal hygiene at all times as the world battles against Covid-19.
In Sabah, two people have died from the virus, while 248 positive cases are still under treatment as of April 8.
