PETALING JAYA: The UPUOnline application for university entrance has been extended again, this time by 10 days to April 17, in light of the movement control order (MCO).

Higher Education Minister Datuk Dr Noraini Ahmad (pic) said on Saturday (April 4) that the decision was made following complaints from Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) and Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) and equivalent applicants who faced difficulty accessing the Internet to apply.

On March 25, Noraini said the initial application deadline on March 31 would be extended to April 7 due to the same reasons.

“The ministry has agreed to extend the closing date for admissions into public universities, teacher's training institutes (IPGs), matriculation colleges, polytechnics, community colleges, and public skills training institute through UPUOnline from April 7 to April 17 at 11:59pm.

“Application result announcement for SPM candidates is expected to be made on June 3, and Aug 18 for STPM/its equivalent applicants,” she said.

The last day for candidates to purchase their UNIK pins from BSN is now April 16, she said, an extension from April 6.

For updates or questions, go to UPU’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/UPUonlineBPKPJPT/ or watch their Facebook Live which will be held daily until April 14, at 10am and 3pm.

“Our officers are ready to answer any questions during Facebook Live,” Noraini added.
