PETALING JAYA: Fuel prices are continuing its downward trend across the board from April 4 to April 10.

The Finance Ministry said that the price of RON97 petrol will be priced at RM1.60 per litre, down by eight sen from RM1.68.

Similarly, the price of RON95 will be reduced by eight sen from RM1.38 per litre to RM1.30 per litre.

"The decline in the retail price of petroleum products is due to the continued decline in global crude oil prices following the global economic uncertainty caused by the Covid-19 outbreak," the ministry said in a statement on Friday (April 3).

The ministry added that the government would continue monitoring changes in crude oil prices for the welfare of the rakyat.

The weekly fuel pricing mechanism was reintroduced on Jan 5,2019 under the Automatic Pricing Mechanism (APM).

Under this system, fuel prices are announced every Friday and remain in force for one week.
