KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian branch office of OKI Data (S) Pte Ltd has given its support in the fight against the ongoing Covid-19 outbreak within the country by contributing medical aid to one of its major customers, the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).

On March 25, in conjunction with the 213th Police Day, OKI delivered medical aid to the police headquarters at Bukit Aman, Kuala Lumpur.

On the same day, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced an extension to the movement control order (MCO) by two weeks until April 14 to contain the spread of the coronavirus.

This mean police officers would need even more medical supplies during this period and hence, OKI’s sponsorship support came just at the right time.

Earlier on March 23, medical aid sponsored by OKI was also delivered to the police contingency headquarters in Melaka, with transport assistance by one of OKI’s authorised distributors, Tricomas Marketing Sdn Bhd.

Overall, this sponsorship project is one of OKI’s corporate social responsibility initiatives to support frontline police officers who conduct daily inspection and road block operations during the enforcement of the 28-day MCO.

The sponsored medical supplies comprise surgical masks, hand sanitisers and thermometers.

“Our police officers have done a great job in the implementation of the movement control order. We should all show them our respect and be grateful for their efforts in protecting our social welfare and helping to reduce the spread of the pandemic,” says OKI Malaysia country manager Goh Yin Hwang.

On a related note, with the help from the police contingency headquarters of Melaka, OKI contributed some of the sponsored items to Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) Melaka; the organisation plays a vital role as front-liners by providing up-to-date reports to the public.

“As responsible individuals, we should all play our part in supporting the Government’s initiatives to overcome this challenging period hand-in-hand,” said Goh in a separate statement.
