PETALING JAYA: The police have ended a manhunt with the arrest of a man linked to a string of burglaries here.

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said the 36-year-old suspect was nabbed in a raid at a flat in Section 8 Kota Damansara on Monday (March 23).

"During interrogation, the suspect confessed to a number of burglaries with an accomplice who has already been arrested," he said in a statement on Tuesday (March 24).

He said the suspect has a prior record for drug and white-collar crimes.

It was reported that a manhunt was on to track down a suspect implicated in a series of house burglaries.

The suspect escaped police custody after a scuffle on March 7.

A police patrol car had earlier spotted a vehicle carrying him and two other men in the Kota Damansara area.

The car sped off when ordered to stop, resulting in a chase that ended in Section 6, Kota Damansara, when the driver collided into several cars parked in the housing area.

The suspect tried to escape on foot but was stopped by the police.

However, he managed to escape during the ensuing scuffle.

Meanwhile, in an unrelated case, two cable theft suspects suffered multiple injuries after jumping down from a flyover to evade police.

ACP Nik Ezanee said a team of policemen on patrol spotted the two men behaving suspiciously at the flyover at Centre Park, Damansara Utama, at around 12.10pm on Saturday.

"We approached the suspects and they jumped off the flyover to evade capture.

"They both suffered multiple injuries," he said, adding that police seized an assortment of tools believed to be used for cable thefts, two mobile phones, two motorcycles and a bottle containing diesel.
