Covid-19: Detailed SOP in the works for red zone areas, says Defence Minister

PUTRAJAYA: A standard operating procedure is being planned for areas considered to be Covid-19 red zones, says Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (pic).

He said the matter is being discussed by the National Security Council, along with the Health Ministry, police and armed forces.

"We will come out with a more detailed SOP for Covid-19 red zones," he said on Tuesday (March 24).

The Defence Minister was asked if a lockdown would be enforced in areas that are considered red zones.

Ismail Sabri responded saying that many things need to be planned to ensure that focused action is taken in the concerned areas.

For example, Gombak is a red zone. But Gombak's Member of Parliament pointed out that it is a large constituency We are looking for a specific area which calls for action to be taken," he said.

In Kuala Lumpur, Titiwangsa, Petaling Jaya, Hulu Langat and Lembah Pantai are red zone areas.
