KOTA KINABALU: The Customs, Immigration, Quarantine and Security (CIQS) complex at the Sindumin-Merapok borders of Sabah and Sarawak will only operate from 6am to 8pm daily.
State secretary Datuk Safar Untong said the shortened hours took effect yesterday.
He said this was in line with the effort to stop the spread of Covid-19.
“There is no need to worry about food supplies running low as food processing factories and transport services are still allowed to operate as usual, ” he said.
Safar added that the rail services had also been rescheduled following the implementation of the movement control order (MCO).
“Services that cover the Kota Kinabalu-Beaufort and Halogilat-Rayoh routes and vice-versa have been stopped for the time being.
“The Beaufort-Halogilat route and vice versa operate at 7.50am and 4.30pm four times a day.
“As for trips from Rayoh to Tenom and vice versa, passengers can still use the service at 7.50am and 4pm daily, ” he said.
On the issue of homeless people, Safar said that efforts had been taken to ensure they were placed at designated areas decided by the respective local authorities.
He also urged all local authorities to help ensure the smooth implementation of the MCO.
