ISKANDAR PUTERI: Police have arrested two men, believed to be involved in housebreaking activities at separate locations around the Kangkar Pulai housing area here.
Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm Dzulkhairi Mukhtar said the first arrest was conducted at about 9.50am on Sunday (March 22) after the police received a public report regarding a 27-year-old suspect.
He was arrested at Taman Pulai Indah, Kangkar Pulai, after breaking into a house through the back door.
"The 44-year-old victim had just returned home when he heard a noise coming from upstairs. He then stumbled upon the suspect who was standing in front of his room.
"The suspect then ran away through the back door before being captured by members of the public, who were at the location," he said in a statement here.
He added that investigations revealed that the suspect had stolen cash with local and foreign currency, valuable items, three watches, four mobile phones and a pair of bolt cutters that was used to gain entry, all estimated to be worth RM5,000.
Comm Dzulkhairi added that the second suspect, who was an accomplice of the 27-year-old suspect, was nabbed at Jalan Pisang Emas, Kangkar Pulai, at about 2.20pm on Sunday.
"The police seized a travel bag containing a water heater, four laptops, three watches, four mobile phones, and cash worth RM388.
"We also found a transparent packet that contained drugs believed to be syabu," he said, adding that one of the suspects had previous criminal and drug-related records.
Both suspects are currently under remand and the case is investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code for burglary which carries a jail term of 14 years upon conviction.
