Driver arrested for running through MCO roadblock

BALIK PULAU: A 36-year-old man was arrested and his vehicle seized after he tried to evade a roadblock at Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah here.

Balik Pulau OCPD Supt A. Anbalagan said during the roadblock dubbed Ops Covid-19, the man was driving and had one passenger.

“A police officer stretched a baton light in front of the car indicating the driver should stop for inspection.

“When the suspect was asked to show his driving licence and identity card, he drove off suddenly.

“Luckily, the policeman managed to avoid the car, but it knocked into the baton causing it to break into pieces.

“The suspect tested positive for methamphetamine and has a criminal record over eight crime cases and two narcotic cases, ” he said in a statement Sunday (March 22).

Supt Anbalagan added that further investigations will be carried out.
