PETALING JAYA: Property developer I-Berhad has donated RM1mil to the government's Covid-19 fund in support of national efforts to battle the global pandemic.
I-Berhad chairman Tan Sri Lim Kim Hong commended the government's efforts in handling the situation, including looking into various initiatives for the people's welfare during these trying times.
"I-Berhad recognises its social responsibility to work hand in hand and support the government's initiatives.
"We hope this contribution will go some way in reaching out to many others who are in need.
"Our country is now going through challenging times, but we are Malaysians. We are resilient. We will overcome this," he said in a statement Friday (March 20).
Lim had earlier presented a RM1mil cheque to Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin at the latter's office.
Noting that its business was not spared following the global pandemic, Lim said the challenges that businesses are facing "pales in comparison" to difficulties Malaysians are facing now and in the weeks to come.
"In challenging times, we brace ourselves to overcome adversities but also prepare for the opportunities and to be ready when good times return," he said.
Lim also expressed confidence that a more encouraging future for investment awaits when the pandemic is over with renewed positive sentiment and optimism.
He also thanked the many doctors, nurses and healthcare workers who are at the forefront of this battle against this viral outbreak.
"We are a resilient nation. At the end of it all, we will stand strong and shout out proud as team Malaysia, that we will overcome this," he added.
