IPOH: Hawkers and small traders who have registered with the local government are entitled to receive the special one-off RM500 aid given by the Perak administration, in light of the Covid-19 pandemic.
A statement released by Perak Mentri Besar office said registered traders would have the amount credited directly into their account.
“Registered traders do not need to apply for this incentive. Right now, the aid is only given to those who have registered with their local government.
“The state administration will review additional incentive from time to time based on our financial capability, ” it said.
On March 18, Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu announced the state had set aside RM7mil in special aid covering several targeted groups. The aid also includes providing lunch and dinner for some 1,500 frontliners such as doctors, nurses and other staff.
The state will also pay half of the rent for stalls and food court rentals under the local government’s management.
“The payment is for March and April 2020. It will be paid directly to the local governments respectively, ” it said.
Separately, the state has allocated about RM720,000 to provide food boxes to the targeted groups in the state.
“Recipients of this aid are selected based on their qualifications by small districts and district offices.
“In order to ease their hardship during the two-week movement control order (MCO), we hope this aid will help them.
“Perak Prihatin card owners are not entitled for this aid. They can still get their food supplies and basic needs up to RM80 at selected shops, ” it said.
