PUTRAJAYA: The Chief Secretary to the Government has issued an apology over the error in issuing invitations for the special meeting of mentris besar and chief ministers.

Datuk Seri Mohd Zuki Ali said Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had directed for all Mentris Besar and Chief Ministers to attend the Tuesday meeting with no exception.

“On behalf of the meeting’s secretariat, I would like to apologise for the error in the invitation, which was only issued to the mentris besar and chief ministers from component parties of the Federal Government.

“For the states of Penang, Kedah, Selangor, Negri Sembilan and Sabah, the state development directors were invited,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Zuki said the Prime Minister viewed the matter seriously and wanted to work with all state governments regardless of their political stance.

He said this is particularly so when it comes to national interest like the Covid-19 outbreak.

“The Prime Minister has issued a directive for all mentris besar and chief ministers to be invited for future meetings on Covid-19,” he added.

Earlier, Pakatan Harapan said it was disappointed that states under it were not invited to attend the special meeting.

“Pakatan records its regret over the action by Putrajaya to not invite mentris besar and chief ministers from these states.“If they were not invited because they lead states that are not politically aligned to the Federal Government, then this action will only be a loss to the people,” it said.
