IPOH: Newly-appointed state executive councillors must have clean records, says Perak DAP.
The party said members of the new state administration must not comprise those facing court charges.
“We also believe that the newly-formed Perikatan Nasional, consisting of Umno, PAS, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia and assemblymen who switched parties, did not receive the mandate of the people.
“They also do not have the blessings from voters in the state, ” it said in a statement.
On March 9, two DAP assemblymen – Paul Yong Choo Kiong (Tronoh) and A. Sivasubramaniam (Buntong) – declared themselves as independent, together with Titi Serong assemblyman Hasnul Zulkarnain Abd Munaim of Amanah.
All three assemblymen threw their support to state Bersatu chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu as the Mentri Besar.
Following this, some 100 people gathered and protested outside Yong’s service centre on March 11, carrying placards and calling him a traitor.
Yesterday, Faizal was reappointed as Perak Mentri Besar for a second time.
Initially, he had tendered his resignation following the move by Bersatu to pull out of the Pakatan Harapan coalition.
The state DAP however supported the decision made by Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah to reappoint Faizal to helm the state.
“We believe in his wisdom and leadership as Sultan Nazrin always prioritises the well-being of the state and its people.
“We hope that under the reign of Sultan Nazrin, only those with clean records would be considered as state exco members, ” it said.
