KUALA KANGSAR: Perak Ruler Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah has issued a stern warning on the misuse of official letterheads, stamps and letters that brings disgrace to the institution of the sultanate.

He advised all Dewan Negara Perak members, as well as the Orang Besar Negeri, Orang Besar Jajahan, officers and staff attached to the royal offices to uphold the good name of the sultanate.

“Never once misuse your position or letterheads to get personal gains.

“The titles you hold must not be abused as a platform to gain various benefits,” he said in his speech at the 169th Dewan Negara Perak meeting held at the Istana Iskandariah here yesterday.

Prior to the meeting, Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu was sworn in as the 13th Perak Mentri Besar before Sultan Nazrin.

The Ruler said it was not proper to misuse titles and positions to get any form of benefits be it from the government, business community or individuals.

“Don’t become a middle person to give endorsement letters ordering the government to provide businesses to any parties as well,” he said.

On the appointment of Faizal, Sultan Nazrin said he had accepted his (Faizal) resignation last week.

He said then the new state government under Perikatan Nasional was formed consisting of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia, Umno and PAS, where the chief from each party presented names for the mentri besar candidate for his consideration.

“All the three leaders from the respective parties signed a written declaration to support the person appointed.

“After receiving the trust of the majority of the state assemblymen, Faizal was appointed as the 13th Mentri Besar,” he said.
