IPOH: Perak Umno Youth has lodged a report over a Facebook post claiming that the party had offered money to a few Pakatan Harapan state assemblymen.

State party wing legal secretariat chairman Faridzul Azlan Abdul Sani said the post was an attempt to tarnish Umno's name.

"I found out about the post on March 10. The post has been edited but based on what I've read, its purpose was to provoke and create a negative perception of Perak Umno," he told reporters after lodging the report at the Sungai Senam police station Wednesday (March 11).

"It is also meant to impact the selection process for the new state Mentri Besar," he added.

The Facebook page, under the name "Perak Today" claimed that Umno had offered nearly RM7.5mil to each Pakatan state executive council member.

Faridzul urged the police to take serious action against the owner and everyone involved with the Facebook page.

"We hope both the police and the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) will investigate this matter thoroughly," he said.
