Zahid claims he turned down Cabinet post

PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi claims he turned down a Cabinet appointment to focus on preparing Umno for the 15th General Election.

"We (Umno) will take into consideration the grassroots' vote and needs of Perikatan Nasional to restore the rakyat's faith in the government following the 'trust deficit' in the previous government," said the Umno president in a Facebook post on Monday (March 9).

He congratulated Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin on the announcement of his new Cabinet.

Regarding his ongoing corruption trial, Zahid Hamidi said he was "praying that the court would make the best decision."
