KOTA KINABALU: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) president Datuk Maximus Ongkili says his new ministerial post gives him the opportunity to address and resolve perennial issues faced by Sabah and Sarawak.

The newly-appointed Minister in the Prime Minister's Department in charge of Sabah and Sarawak Affairs said he could now address and resolve concerns, grouses and problems faced and expressed by citizens of the two states within the Malaysian federation.

"On behalf of PBS, I express gratefulness for the opportunity to serve the country once again as a member of the Federal Cabinet under the leadership of Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin," he said in a statement here Monday (March 9).

He said PBS greatly valued the appointment and he would do his personal best in the new portfolio, whether in matters of law, policies, security and overall development.
