Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the latest positive case – the 23rd one here – was a 53-year-old Malaysian female who travelled to Japan recently.“After returning from Japan on Feb 23, the patient developed fever symptoms the following day and received treatment at a hospital in Kuala Lumpur.
“A Covid-19 test was done and it was found to be positive on Feb 27,” he said in a statement yesterday.
He added that the two female patients who had recovered were discharged yesterday: a 67-year-old from China and an 83-year-old American. They were the 16th and 22nd confirmed cases respectively in Malaysia.“Thus, a total of 22 people have fully recovered and have been discharged from the ward,” he said.
He noted that up to yesterday, 1,569 individuals have had their samples taken for testing.
“From the total, 23 cases were Covid-19 positive, while 1,523 were negative and 23 cases are pending lab reports,” he said.
