Firemen hike up Penang Hill to put out fire

GEORGE TOWN: Fire broke out on a 0.8ha of forested land here at Penang Hill on Wednesday (Feb 26).

A state Fire and Rescue Department spokesperson said they received a call at 12.15am and dispatched the members from the Paya Terubong Fire and Rescue station to the scene.

"The firemen had to hike almost 100m from the lower station to get to the location.

"The fire was found to involve small trees and dried leaves. There were no casualties.

"The firemen then put out the fire using jet shooters, forest fire equipment and manual sprayers.
