KLANG: A factory worker has been arrested for attempting to sexually assault a child here.

North Klang OCPD Asst Comm Nurulhuda Salleh said the incident occurred around 2pm on Wednesday (Feb 19) at a flat at Bandar Sultan Sulaiman.

"We received a report from a 40-year-old woman, who works as a cleaner.

"She claimed that her eight-year-old daughter was on her way back home after buying a drink when the child was ambushed by a man," ACP Nurulhuda said when contacted on Thursday (Feb 21).

She said the man covered the girl's mouth and told her that he had a knife, and demanded her not to scream.

"The girl managed to bite the suspect's hand and kicked him before escaping.

"Following the incident, several people there performed a citizen's arrest of the 21-year-old man before handing him over to police," she said, adding that he has been remanded for five days to help with investigations.

She urged any other victims to come forward and contact Insp Azirah Abd Aziz at 03-3290 2222 or go to the nearest police station.
