Dr M arrives in KK to open Quran recital competition

KOTA KINABALU (Bernama): Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his wife, Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali, arrived here Sunday (Feb 16) for the national-level Quran Recital and Memorisation Competition to be held at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) tonight.

The aircraft carrying the Prime Minister and his wife landed at Terminal Two of the Kota Kinabalu International Airport about 1.30pm and the couple was greeted on arrival by Datuk Wilfred Madius Tangau, Datuk Jaujan Sambakong and Datuk Christina Liew, as well as members of the state Cabinet and senior government officers in the state.

Also present were several Sabah Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia leaders and Parti Warisan Sabah members.

Dr Mahathir is scheduled to open the Quran Recital and Memorisation Competition at 8.30pm today and will return to Kuala Lumpur tomorrow morning. - Bernama
