SUBANG JAYA: The Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) enforcement officer and the civilian who were involved in a fight recorded in a viral video have made peace and agreed to move on.
It was reported earlier (“Video of MPSJ officer in USJ fistfight goes viral”), that a video had gone viral on Thursday (Feb 13) showing a fight between the elderly man with an umbrella and an enforcement officer from MPSJ.
The source of friction stemmed from the fact that Umbrella Man's car had been clamped for obstructing traffic.
In the video, following a verbal exchange, the man hits the council worker with his umbrella.
This prompts the younger man to punch him and wrestle him down to the ground.
As the dazed elderly man looks about in shock, the council worker has to be pushed away and restrained by people at the scene.
In a press statement, Subang Jaya assemblywoman Michelle Ng said the two men had met at her office in SS14 Subang Jaya on Friday (Feb 14) along with Sean Oon, an accredited mediator.
“I’m pleased and proud to announce that after we talked to the two, they voluntarily made peace and decided to resolve their misunderstanding.
"MPSJ, the MPSJ officer and individual involved have also agreed that this issue has come to an end, ” she said.
Ng had prior to this offered to act as a mediator between the two, after the media asked her to comment on the incident.
