MANJUNG: High tide swept away three teenagers who were taking a walk near Teluk Nipah beach to an islet.
While two of them were rescued by a boat ferrying tourists, Mohd Nazrul Helmi Nazri, 17, was found drowned during the 3.50pm incident yesterday.
A Perak Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said victim was found floating in the sea at about 12.10pm yesterday.
“Our team was preparing to dive to look for the victim when we spotted a body not far from the site of the mishap.
“Earlier, 12 boats were sent out to comb the area within a 2km radius and conduct a surface search, ” he said in a statement.
The spokesman said the search and rescue operation included the police, Rela, the Civil Defence Force and some locals.
