MIRI: A Sarawak assemblyman and two reporters escaped unhurt after a four-wheel drive vehicle driven by the politician crashed into a road divider and turned turtle early Saturday (Feb 1).
Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau and the two reporters were on their way back to Miri shortly after midnight after going to Long Lama for a Chinese New Year gathering when the accident occurred at Bukit Song, about 30km south of Miri.
Passers-by helped them out of the vehicle before an ambulance took them to the Miri Hospital.
Northern Sarawak Journalists Association president Andy Jong said the trio were uninjured.
"They were taken to Miri Hospital (by paramedics) after the accident for a check-up and were discharged soon after.
"All three of them were sent back to their homes in Miri," he said.
Long Lama is three hours by road from Miri.
