PUTRAJAYA (Bernama): Nor Salwani Muhammad, who became a public hero last November for saving the original audit report on 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB), was conferred a Datukship by Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah on Saturday (Feb 1).
Nor Salwani, who is the National Audit Department's director (Governance Sector), had also kept a recording of a meeting, which allegedly decided to make amendments to 1MDB's final audit report.
Her actions had helped to preserve evidence of alleged tampering with the National Audit Department's report on 1MDB as her superior at the time - auditor-general Ambrin Buang - had ordered that all copies of the report be destroyed to prevent leaks. Only the modified copy was submitted to Parliament's Public Accounts Committee.
Nor Salwani is among 188 people conferred with awards, honours and medals by the King in conjunction with the 2020 Federal Territory Day celebration at Istana Melawati here.
She, along with 24 other received the Panglima Mahkota Wilayah (PMW) which carries with it the title "Datuk".
Federal Court Judge Datuk Mohd Zawawi Salleh headed the list of recipients along with two others, and received the Seri Mahkota Wilayah (SMW) award, which carries the title ‘Datuk Seri’.
Besides Mohd Zawawi, who was appointed as a Federal Court Judge on April 27, 2018, the other two recipients of the SMW are Datuk Hasnol Zam Zam Ahmad whose appointment as the secretary-general of the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry takes effect Saturday and Malaysia Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (Mampu) director-general Datuk Dr Mazlan Yusoff.
