JOHOR BARU: Johor DAP's Youth wing (Dapsy) has condemned the actions of a group of youths which caused chaos at an event attended by Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman in Ulu Tiram.

Its chief Sheikh Umar Bagharib Ali said that the act was "uncivilized" and had no place in the country.

"Such gangster-like acts should not have a place in a country with laws, regardless of whoever is on the receiving end of it.

"The act also tainted democracy and violates Syed Saddiq's rights as a politician who was elected by the people and was carrying his duty," he said in a statement released here on Saturday (Feb 1).

He urged the authorities to take immediate action on the issue.

It was reported that the group of about 200 people showed up uninvited at a Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia's youth wing (Armada) gathering, forcing Syed Saddiq to flee by climbing over a fence.
