KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): Chief Secretary to the Government Datuk Seri Mohd Zuki Ali has announced the appointment of two ministry secretary-generals.

They are Datuk Muez Abd Aziz as the new Defence Ministry secretary-general and Datuk Hasnol Zam Zam Ahmad, who is taking over Muez’s post as Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry secretary-general.

Their appointments take effect tomorrow (Feb 1), said Zuki, who is formerly the Defence Ministry secretary-general, in a statement here Friday (Jan 31).

Muez, who holds a master’s degree in economy from University of Vanderbilt in the United States, has been in the civil service for 25 years, while Hasnol, who graduated with a master’s degree in Town Planning from the University of Pennsylvania in the United States, joined the civil service 28 years ago.

“I believe with his experience, knowledge and credibility, Muez is capable of shouldering his responsibility at the Defence Ministry to ensure the country’s security and sovereignty are always protected, ” Zuki said.

He added that Hasnol could help realise the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry’s aspiration to be a “caring ministry” by focusing on domestic trade as the pillar of the country's high-income economy. – Bernama
