JOHOR BARU: A single mother of three, whose pictures of her going to the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) office in an ambulance went viral last month, has died of cancer.

Husnah Devi Abdullah, 56, had been battling the illness for about three years.

She died at her house in Austin Residence on Jan 24 with her family members by her side.

Her sister Nur Sheila, 41, said Husnah was able to express her final wishes to their family before she passed on.

“My sister told us to take good care of her three children, ” she said when contacted yesterday.

Nur Sheila also said that her sister had no ill feelings towards EPF whose officer had asked her to come personally to the office to facilitate the withdrawal of her EPF contributions.

EPF has since issued an apology, saying that it would improve existing processes so that it could provide better and compassionate service for all.
