Man dies in accident near Melaka, Negri border

MELAKA: Two Proton Wiras of the same colour and number of passengers collided head-on, killing one.

Alor Gajah OCPD Supt Arshad Abu said both the green coloured cars were involved in the accident at Jalan Bukit Merchant in Pulau Sebang, near the Negri Sembilan and Melaka border here at 11.45pm on Saturday (Jan 25).

He said one of the drivers, identified as 61-year-old Karpanah Arunasalam from Rumah Awam Sri Lendu, Jalan Rumbia in Alor Gajah here, was killed on the spot due to head injuries.

The 19-year-old driver of other car escaped with minor injuries.

Supt Arshad said the 19-year-old, who was in the car with four of his friends, is believed to have lost control of his vehicle before ramming into the other car which had the deceased and four of his family members.

He said the injured from both the cars were rushed to Alor Gajah Hospital with some being warded.

Supt Arshad added that preliminary investigation showed human factor was the cause of the accident.
