Multiracial crowd throngs MCA's Chinese New Year open house

KUALA LUMPUR: MCA's Chinese New Year open house saw a multi-racial crowd of Malaysians getting together to usher in the Year of the Rat on Saturday (Jan 25).

MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong joined other party leaders to attend the iconic yearly open house at Wisma MCA here.

Dr Wee, deputy president Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon and other party officials mingled with the crowd gathered at the entrance to the party's headquarters here at 9am.

MCA public complaints bureau chief Datuk Seri Michael Chong was also spotted welcoming the guests before they were greeted by Dr Wee, Dr Mah and other top party leaders.

Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan was welcomed warmly with a hug from Dr Wee when the former arrived at the open house at 9.30am.

Tents set up outside Wisma MCA offered the public a chance to take part in traditional games such as pick-up sticks, claptrap, bowling can and teng teng.

Party members, supporters and the public who turned up to attend the open house held starting 8.30am were also treated to a lion dance performance at the entrance of Wisma MCA to start the celebrations.
