PETALING JAYA: Investigations into an incident where thieves entered a victim’s house in broad daylight are still underway, says Asst Comm Mohd Zani Che Din.

When met at the launch of Ops Selamat at the NPE toll office near PJS2 on Friday (Jan 24), the Petaling Jaya OCPD said that investigations were still underway as to how the thieves entered the compound in the first place.

“The number plate on their vehicle was fake so we have to check the nearby CCTV footage, ” he said.

In the Jan 21 incident, a couple who had just returned home from shopping were shocked to find their gate open.

There was also a silver car parked in their driveway. Two unidentified people then rushed into the silver car, before driving out.

The couple tried to use their car to block the intruders from leaving but the thieves repeatedly rammed into their vehicle, forcing their way through to make their escape.

A notebook computer, mobile phone, gold ring, laptop bag, several bottles of whisky and more than RM2,600 worth of foreign currency were stolen during the burglary.

The incident was captured on a dashboard camera and the video subsequently went viral.
