PETALING JAYA: Sabah’s decision to shelve the implementation of the Sabah Temporary Pass (PSS) shows the importance of having a proper check-and-balance system in place, says MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong (pic).
“It is important to have a check and balance system for the ruling government.
“Opposition parties have a crucial role to play in ensuring the government administration is in order, ” he said in a Facebook post yesterday.
He also thanked Kimanis voters for their support, which saw Barisan Nasional winning the parliamentary by-election on Jan 18, with its candidate Datuk Mohamad Alamin garnering 12,706 votes against Parti Warisan Sabah’s Datuk Karim Bujang’s 10,677 votes.
While the Warisan-led state government said it would resolve Sabah’s decades-old migrant problem, Barisan argued that the PSS could be used as a tool to give citizenship to foreigners.
