Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Noor Azam Jamaludin said the driver was arrested after he surrendered at the Section 11 police station in Shah Alam on Monday evening.
“Initial investigations revealed the driver, in his 30s, was on his way to meet friends in Port Dickson, Negri Sembilan.
“He claimed he was in a hurry,” Noor Azam told reporters after
witnessing the handing over ceremony for the Hulu Selangor OCPD at the district police headquarters here yesterday.
He said the driver would be remanded for three days to help investigations.
“The driver tested negative for alcohol and drugs. In this instance the dashboard camera (dash cam) footage has helped us with our investigation. We need the driver of the vehicle that recorded the footage to come forward and assist investigations,” he said.
Meanwhile, Selangor Traffic Investigations and Enforcement Department chief Supt Azman Shariat described dash cams as a good gadget to have in vehicles.
“These dash cams can help us in our crime and accident investigations.
“Motorists should, however, make sure to buy dash cams that record in high resolution so that it clearly records details such as number plates,” he said.
