BEAUFORT: Parti Bersatu Sabah says Barisan Nasional’s victory in Kimanis was due to “solid cooperation” among Opposition parties in the state.
PBS president Datuk Seri Maximus Ongkili said voters made a bold and wise decision in picking Barisan’s Datuk Mohamad Alamin as their MP.
“The victory is not only convincing but also sweet, given that the Pakatan Harapan-Warisan government applied all tactics and pressure, including threats and giving goodies, as well as manipulating stories and making countless accusations.
“This victory also shows that you cannot take Sabah voters for granted, ” he said in his reaction to Barisan’s stunning win.
“We salute the Kimanis voters for their wisdom, bravery and single-mindedness, ” said Ongkili, whose PBS party left the Barisan coalition shortly after GE14.
PBS, Sabah STAR and Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah came out in support of Barisan and stayed out of the by-election.
“This is indeed a ‘tamparan hebat’ (big blow) and an eye-opener to the Warisan state government.
“We hope they realise that they are losing the Sabah grassroots because of their broken promises and harmful policies, especially on the implementation of the Sabah Temporary Pass (PSS), ” said Ongkili.
The voters, he said, had spoken and they represented the voices of Sabahans calling for the PSS plan “to be thrown out to sea”.
