MIRI: A teenager was among five people arrested for possessing two home-made airguns at a house in northern Sarawak.
Miri OCPD Asst Comm Lim Meng Seah said police made the arrests after raiding the house at Mile 8 along the Miri-Bintulu road on Friday (Jan 17).
"Five local youths aged 16 to 29 were arrested and are being investigated under the Firearms Act 1960," he said at Miri police headquarters.
ACP Lim said police team found two home-made airguns plus pellets inside the house.
Also found were items believed to have been stolen, he said.
All five were tested positive for drugs too, he added.
The gang is believed to have been involved in at least 15 cases of thefts and break-ins in and around Miri, said ACP Lim.
The police are probing the five for their crime-links and are tracing possible accomplices, he said.
The arrested youths are being remanded at Miri Central Police Station.
