Down on hard times: Finas will pay for Balqis’s school and medical fees, says Hans.

THE National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (Finas) will help young actress Puteri Balqis Azizi with some financial aid, reported Harian Metro.

Finas chairman Datuk Hans Issac said they would help to pay some of her bills.

“We will pay her school fees directly to the school. With regards to her medical fees, we will pay it directly to the hospital. We will help her where needed, ” he said.

Hans said Finas would get in touch with Puteri Balqis’ mother Norashikin Mohd Aziz.

“Balqis is a really talented actress. I have spoken to some chief executive officers to save some roles for her in the future for when she is healthier to act again, ” said Hans.

The award-winning actress, who was diagnosed with cancer and a heart ailment last year, now has to bear with hunger pangs for days at a time due to financial hardship.

The 13-year-old, who once dreamed of starring in Hollywood movies, was even forced to take to the streets with her mother to sell her book 38 Poems Of Puteri Balqis.

Balqis, whose best-known films include Upin & Ipin: Jeng Jeng Jeng!, Makrifat Cinta and KL Special Force, won the Best Actress category at the Asian Television Awards 2014 for her role in Balqis.

> The daily also reported that a girl saved half of a burger she got from a community outreach programme to share with her younger brother.

Nor Aina Damia Aziz, nine, from SK Besut in Setiu attended the programme organised by the Civil Defence Force at the Kuala Terengganu McDonald’s.

She said it was her first-ever McDonald’s meal and was grateful for the opportunity.

“I can only eat half of the burger and I want to bring back the other half for my younger brother.

“My brother Akil Dayan (four), has not tasted a McDonald’s burger which is why I’m saving some for him, ” she said.
