PETALING JAYA: It was the start of a prosperous celebration for Tiger Beer Malaysia as the country’s leading brewer marked an auspicious 88th anniversary along with Chinese New Year festivities during a visit to Menara Star.

This year, Heineken Malaysia Bhd is sharing the prosperity with a series of promotions, campaigns and contests on a grander scale than ever before in conjunction with the Year of the Rat.

Star Media Group Bhd (SMG) employees enjoyed an entertaining lion dance performance by eight lions, each in a colour representing the five brands under Heineken Malaysia’s portfolio – Tiger, Heineken, Guinness, Anchor and Strongbow/Apple Fox.

Heineken Malaysia was represented by managing director Roland Bala, marketing director Pablo Chabot, finance director Szilard Voros, human resource director Kuhan Kanagarajan and transformation and technology director Janina Vriesekoop.

Welcoming them were SMG chief executive officer Andreas Vogiatzakis, chief financial officer Ragesh Rajendran, chief business officer Lydia Wang, chief content officer Esther Ng and executive content officer Brian Martin.

The management team from Heineken Malaysia and SMG then tossed yee sang together as a symbolic gesture to welcome prosperity, wealth and joy for the coming year.

Bala said they wanted to welcome the double celebrations of the Year of the Rat and their 88th anniversary by sharing the “huat” with friends and consumers.

“Chinese New Year is the time when we celebrate with friends and family with the intention of inviting and spreading joy and prosperity,

“We want to share the ‘huat’ with our friends from the media and consumers alike through a series of exciting promotions, contests and activations to set the tone for the year ahead,” he added.

SMG employees tried their luck at a huat machine game to get their hands on exclusive Heineken Malaysia merchandise, while the presence of two “Gods of Prosperity” added to the fun.

There were also giveaways with prizes ranging from Tiger Beer Mahjong sets, Heineken Poker sets and Guinness Electronic Dice sets to cash prizes and gold coins up for grabs.Consumers can redeem limited edition ang pow packets upon purchasing RM188 worth of Heineken Malaysia products at the Tiger Huat Huat Bazaar at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur from now until Feb 9.
