KUANTAN (Bernama): A family of three, including a baby, were killed in a crash involving three vehicles at KM145 of Jalan Kuala Lumpur-Kuantan near Temerloh on Friday (Jan 10).

Pahang Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department chief Supt Kamarulzaman Jusoh said all three victims died at the scene of the crash, which occurred at 5pm.

The victims were identified as Mohammad Adnan Anuar, who was driving the Proton Persona, his wife Siti Tul Assiqin Abdul Wahab, both aged 23, and their baby Nur Alissa Insyirah. The family were from Lanchang, Temerloh.

"The crash is believed to have happened after the victim’s car, headed Kuala Lumpur from Kuantan, strayed into the opposite lane while negotiating a bend before colliding with a palm oil tanker.

"The tanker lorry, in trying to avoid the Persona, then crashed into a five-tonne lorry on the left side of the road,” Kamarulzaman said when contacted.

Supt Kamarulzaman said the driver of the five-tonne lorry, aged 27, sustained light injuries while the 55-year-old tanker lorry driver escaped unharmed.

The Persona was badly damaged in the crash, trapping the victims, which forced police to call for the Fire and Rescue Department’s assistance to extricate their bodies.

"The bodies were sent to the Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah hospital in Temerloh for a post-mortem.- Bernama
