NILAI: A dead chicken was thrown into the house of a new Seremban city councillor, barely a week after he was sworn in.
K. Senthivelu’s house was also splashed with red paint, causing damage to his house, a Perodua MyVi and a motorcycle.
The new councillor, who was sworn in less than a week ago, had been looking forward to serving the people in Nilai, which ranks among the fastest-growing towns in the state.
“I have never taken loans from any Ah Long and as far as I am concerned, I do not have enemies, ” he said.
The father of three, who works as a technician in a factory has been living in Taman Desa Cempaka for the past 15 years.
Senthivelu said he was about to go to bed around midnight on Monday when a neighbour who had just returned home called him.
“The neighbour said there was a strong smell of petrol coming from my house and when he took a closer look, he saw my car and porch drenched in red.
“He told me that I should come out and take a look, ” said Senthivelu, who lives in the single-storey terrace unit with his family, including his father-in-law.
He then lodged a report at the Nilai police station.
Nilai OCPD Supt Mohd Nor Marzukee Besar said the case was being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code for committing mischief and causing damage.
He said a police forensics team was also sent to the house.
“The victim has estimated his loss to be around RM8,000, ” he said, adding that there was no CCTV recording or witnesses in the incident.
On Monday, Seremban OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Said Ibrahim had said that Senthivelu would be questioned over an alleged Facebook posting mocking preacher Dr Zakir Naik.
The posting, which was made on Saturday, has since been removed.
