PUTRAJAYA: Candidates representing political parties in the Kimanis by-election are reminded to submit a letter from their respective parties to allow the use of party symbols, says the Election Commission.
Its chairman Datuk Azhar Azizan Harun said the letter must be enclosed when the candidate submits his application to contest on nomination day tomorrow.
“The EC intends to ensure that the process on nomination day will go smoothly.
“The EC is calling on all candidates and political parties to abide by the laws and regulations and follow orders issued by our officers as well as the police, ” he said yesterday.
Azhar reminded aspiring candidates and parties to take note of what is prohibited during nomination day.
These include the use of any musical instruments and loud speakers as stated under Section 24A of the Election Offences Act.
The EC chairman also reminded party supporters that they are not allowed to be within 50m of the nomination centre, adding that political parties are responsible in ensuring those present do not violate regulations.
Polling for the by-election will be held on Jan 18.
