PETALING JAYA: With the dawn of a new decade comes a digital tax on foreign services that’s meant to level the playing field between overseas and local companies, and bring additional revenue to the government.

The 6% digital tax took effect on Jan 1. It is mandatory for foreign companies with an annual turnover from digital services – including software, music, video and digital advertising – exceeding RM500,000.
