JOHOR BARU: A teenager is missing his mother who vanished days before Christmas.
“We have no idea where she is or how she is doing, ” said Mok Zhuang Zhuang, 18.
“The uncertainty is a constant torture for my family as we wait for her to return.”
He is appealing for public help to find his mother, account executive Tieu Soo Phik, 54, who vanished after attending a church meeting on Dec 13.
Tieu’s husband, food safety management adviser Eddie Mok Check Saint, said CCTV footage acquired from the management of the family’s apartment in Permas showed his wife leaving the building at about 6.40pm that day.
Check Saint, 55, was in Laos for work, while Zhuang Zhuang was away in college.
“We started a dumpling business a few months ago and my wife was supposed to take some stuff from my mother’s house the next day for the business as well as pick up the workers, ” he said.
“She had promised to be at the house at 9am but when she failed to turn up by 9.30am, my mother felt something amiss.”
He booked the next flight home after attempts to contact his wife failed.
Check Saint said he made a police report upon reaching Malaysia and had since been going around with his son to look for his wife.
According to church members, Tieu left their meeting early that day.
On Dec 17, someone alerted him that his car, which his wife had used on the day she went missing, was found at a public parking area here but the number plate was missing.
“It was indeed my car but that does not bring us anywhere closer to finding out about my wife’s whereabouts, ” he said, adding that he was worried about her safety.
When contacted, Johor Baru North OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Taib Ahmad said the police were searching for Tieu and urged those with information to come forward to help in the investigation.
Those with information can contact the state police hotline at 07-221 2999.
