Cops looking for Indonesian named Ato linked to Kota Samarahan murder

KOTA SAMARAHAN (Bernama): Police are appealing to the public for information on the second suspect in the murder of a man in Bandar Riyal here on Dec 20.

Kota Samarahan district police chief DSP Lee Chong Chern said the suspect is known as Ato and added that he in his 30s and is from Singkawang, West Kalimantan, Indonesia

DSP Lee however said that Ato's full identity is not available.

"We don’t have his full particulars to check with the Immigration Department, ” he told a press conference here on Tuesday (Dec 31).

DSP Lee said that the police received a report at 4pm on Dec 21 about a body in a room in a double-storey shop house.

"The police found the body in a pool of blood. He had slash wounds on the neck and stab wounds on other parts of the body, ” he said.

He said the victim was in his 20s and was from Betong, Sri Aman, adding that the police have yet to establish the motive for the murder.

DSP Lee also said the room was rented by two Indonesians including Ato and added that the two fled in a car after the incident.

"We have arrested the second tenant and the investigation shows that the incident happened between 3am and 6am on Dec 20," he said.
