KOTA KINABALU: Sabah has begun a massive polio immunisation programme as health officers try to identify the source of the polio virus contracted by a three-month-old baby in Tuaran earlier this month.
State Health and People’s Wellbeing Minister Datuk Frankie Poon said it was necessary to immunise children aged below five as the polio virus had not been detected in Malaysia in 27 years.
